The Rolex GMT-Master II is one of the brand’s most iconic and sought-after collections. Originally created for aviation professionals, the GMT-Master wristwatch II’s dual time zone function allows wearers to read both local and home time simultaneously - a feature that has made it indispensable for frequent travelers. Over the decades since its launch in 1955, the collection has continued to evolve. Among modern Rolex models, the GMT-Master II stands out for two distinctive features: it’s the only Rolex collection with a dual-colored Cerachrom ceramic bezel, and it’s also the only collection that currently offers a left-crown model. These traits, combined with its strong practical functionality, have helped secure its place as a perennial favorite among watch enthusiasts and collectors.
Just like the Submariner, the GMT-Master II is primarily a sport watch focused on functionality. However, it’s available in a wide range of materials - from entry-level Oystersteel to two-tone Oystersteel and precious metals like everose gold, white gold, and yellow gold. Rolex’s reintroduction of two-tone and full-gold models in 2023 attracted considerable market attention, and the addition of new grey and black ceramic bezel options expanded buyer choice further.

Before the 2025 watch fair, the market was buzzing with rumors that the GMT-Master II “Coke” bezel would make a comeback. In the end, however, the speculation once again proved unfounded. Instead, Rolex surprised everyone with the unexpected release of the white-gold, left-handed green-dial 126729VTNR - a launch few had anticipated.
GMT-Master II Market Pricing (Brand Retail)
Among today’s GMT-Master II collection, Oystersteel models are especially popular due to their relatively accessible official retail prices. Of the 17 GMT-Master II references currently in production, 8 are Oystersteel, nearly half of the collection. But because demand significantly outpaces supply, their secondary-market prices frequently diverge from official pricing. Below are the official retail prices for the key Oystersteel models (noting that each reference is offered in both Oyster bracelet and Jubilee bracelet versions, with Jubilee typically priced slightly higher at retail):
Blue-Black Bezel
l 126710BLNR-0002 (Jubilee) "Batgirl" - $12,000
l 126710BLNR-0003 (Oyster) "Batman" - $11,800

In terms of retail pricing, the Oystersteel GMT-Master II has indeed increased year by year. Taking 2020 as an example, the collection then consisted of only two Oystersteel models - the 126710BLNR-0002 and the 126710BLRO-0001 - both priced at “just” $10,000. Six years later, the retail prices of these two watches alone have risen by nearly $2,000. This increase corresponds with the evolving trends in the secondary market, where gains and pullbacks have somewhat offset each other over time.

Interestingly, in the past our impression of the GMT-Master II was that it typically came fitted with the Oyster bracelet. Therefore, when Rolex introduced the blue-black and Pepsi models on the Jubilee bracelet in 2018 and 2019 for two consecutive years, many enthusiasts initially felt unaccustomed to the change and began reminiscing about the Oyster bracelet era. However, at that time the market had no alternative, as only Jubilee versions were available. Even though Rolex unexpectedly reintroduced Oyster bracelet versions of the Pepsi and blue-black models in 2021, the situation eventually reversed. In today’s secondary market, steel GMT-Master II models fitted with the Jubilee bracelet actually command slightly higher prices than their Oyster counterparts.

According to tracking data from WatchCharts, a high-end watch market research firm, as of late August 2025 the prices for the Jubilee bracelet versions of the 126710BLNR-0002, 126710BLRO-0001, 126720VTNR-0002, and 126710GRNR-0003 were $16,483, $19,743, $16,532, and $18,952, respectively. At the time, popular secondary-market watch prices had already been in a prolonged downward trend. Now, roughly half a year later, how have these four steel GMT-Master II hot models evolved?

Based on the latest WatchCharts data, the current secondary market prices for the 126710BLNR-0002, 126710BLRO-0001, 126720VTNR-0002, and 126710GRNR-0003 are $17,036, $20,363, $16,399, and $19,793, respectively. From a purely numerical perspective, the 126720VTNR-0002 - which previously performed relatively well - began to be overtaken several years ago by the 126710BLRO-0001. This trend continues today. The former experienced consistent declines in recent years before stabilizing in the second half of 2025, fluctuating modestly but generally hovering around the $17,000 mark.
The Pepsi bezel, by contrast, has shown steady, gradual growth. By March 2025 its price had rebounded above the $20,000 threshold, only to dip back below it in April. After five consecutive months of gains from August through December, it once again surpassed $20,000. Following some volatility in mid-January, with a slight pullback, prices quickly climbed again in February.
The blue-black bezel demonstrated strong momentum in recent months. After beginning an upward trend in March 2025 and surrendering those gains in April, it resumed its growth trajectory in August, pushing secondary prices close to $17,000. A correction followed in September, but from October onward it rebounded again, reaching a six-month high.
As the newest release among the four, the grey-black model currently sits at a relatively elevated secondary market level. Following the typical pattern of a hot release, it initially declined from its launch peak, dropping from over $20,000 to under $18,000 within six months. However, starting in June 2025, its market performance began to strengthen. Over the past eight months the overall trend has been upward. Although there was a slight dip in September, prices rebounded again in October. Its premium over retail remains significant, now approaching the level of the Pepsi model.

All four Oystersteel GMT-Master II models — 126710BLNR-0002, 126710BLRO-0001, 126720VTNR-0002, and 126710GRNR-0003 — are currently trading above retail. The highest premium belongs to the Pepsi bezel 126710BLRO-0001 at 70%, followed closely by the grey-black bezel 126710GRNR-0003 at 65%, then the blue-black bezel 126710BLNR-0002 at 42%. The left-handed green-black bezel 126720VTNR-0002 ranks last, with a “modest” 31% premium.
Recent secondary market performance for Oystersteel GMT-Master II models appears to show signs of shaking off the downturn of the past two years. However, because Rolex has raised official retail prices, premium percentages have declined — for example, the Pepsi bezel model has dropped nearly 10 percentage points in premium rate. Even so, its secondary market price remains impressive, demonstrating strong value retention.
